Tenure-Track Position

Value Theory

The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to begin July 1, 2018. Whether hired at the Assistant or Associate Level, the appointment would initially be without tenure.

                       Area of specialization: Value Theory

                   Areas of competence: Open

The successful applicant must be able to contribute to the undergraduate B.A. Honours Degree Program in (JPPL)  Justice, Political Philosophy and Law and/or the research and teaching mission of (IEPI) the Institute for Ethics and Policy Innovation.

The aims of the JPPL program are to foster a sophisticated understanding of the law and legal institutions that make up the social world in which we live and of the political and moral theories that address the value and justice of these institutions. IEPI is a center of teaching and research that focuses on the ethical and policy challenges posed by highly promising but potentially socially disruptive technological innovations.

The department is particularly interested in candidates with research and teaching interests in applied ethics and feminist philosophy.

The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. by the time of the appointment and demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. Duties will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, the supervision of master's and doctoral theses, and committee responsibilities. The normal teaching load in the Philosophy Department is 2 courses per term (4 per academic year), plus graduate supervision.
