Job description

William Paterson University’s Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor effective fall 2018. 

 An earned Ph.D. in Philosophy by time of hire, a record of scholarly achievement, and teaching experience are required.  

We are seeking applicants with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching who bring research and teaching expertise in social areas of philosophy, with preference for specializations in Philosophy of Law, Philosophy of Race, Ethics, or Social and Political Philosophy.  Additional preferences include experience in program administration, online teaching, and liberal or general studies.  The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in area of specialization, in support of the department’s Liberal Studies major, and/or in offerings related to the University Core Curriculum, as needed.  Service expectations will also include support for and eventual leadership of the department’s interdisciplinary program in Liberal Studies.
