Professor of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at Ave Maria University invites applications for the position of professor of Philosophy (rank open) to begin in the Fall of 2018. A Ph.D. by the time of appointment is required.  AOS/AOC: Open, but there is a preference for Early Modern Philosophy or Philosophy of Science.  Knowledge of the Catholic intellectual tradition, especially Aquinas; a capacity to teach within a strong core curriculum program; and a distinction, or potential for distinction, in scholarship are necessary requirements.  Core philosophy courses (presently under review) include Western Civilization, Nature and Person, and Ethics. Teaching load is 3/3.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials.

An application should include a cover letter; a curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation addressed to Dr. Maria Fedoryka; academic transcripts; a writing sample; and an essay of 2-3 pages, in which the applicant relates his or her philosophy of teaching to the University’s Catholic mission as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae.

Incomplete applications missing any components, especially the Ex Corde Ecclesiae statement, will not be considered.
