Job description

The Faculty of Philosophy wishes to appoint two Associate Professors (or Professors) in Philosophy, one in association with a Tutorial Fellowship at Exeter College, and one in association with a Tutorial Fellowship at Worcester College. The successful candidates will have at least an area of competence in Feminist Philosophy and, additionally, an area of specialisation in any area of analytic philosophy. These posts are available from 1 September 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter. They are permanent appointments (subject to initial probation).

The successful candidates will be expected to engage in advanced research and must be able to provide research-led teaching and supervision at all levels, undergraduate and graduate. The successful candidates will also be expected to provide small-group undergraduate teaching for Exeter College or Worcester College, in the form of tutorials, on a range of subjects at both introductory and advanced levels.

They must demonstrate a research record of international standing appropriate to the stage of their career; the ability to deliver excellent teaching; the ability to supervise graduate students; and a willingness to undertake administration and pastoral responsibilities on behalf of Exeter College or Worcester College, and of the University. Candidates should hold a completed doctorate, or a completed doctoral dissertation submitted for examination by the advertised closing date for this position, in Philosophy or a closely related field.

Salary range: £46,336 - £62,219 p.a. plus allowances, including a housing allowance of £8,723 p.a. for non-resident fellows, or College housing, if appointed to the Tutorial Fellowship at Exeter, or a housing allowance of £8,484 p.a. for non-resident fellows, or College housing, if appointed to the Tutorial Fellowship at Worcester. An additional salary payment of £2,700 p.a. would be payable upon award of title of full Professor (without change to the duties of the post).
