Job description

The Centre for Moral and Political Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is offering one post-doctoral fellowship for the full academic year 2018/19. The Centre especially encourages applications by candidates whose research interests coincide with the Centre's annual theme for 2018/19: Emotion and Perception in Moral Epistemology – see detailed description here.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in philosophy or a related discipline approved after May 2015 and no later than the time of the commencement of the fellowship (October 1st, 2018).

Fellows are expected to take part in all the activities of the Centre throughout their fellowship, including active participation in colloquia and discussion groups, as well as conferences and workshops at the Center and elsewhere. Fellows may offer to teach a course on a topic related to their research proposal. The fellowship carries a monthly stipend of 10,000 NIS (approximately $2500). The Centre will supply travel funds as well.

Applications should include a research proposal, curriculum vitae, a list of publications, two letters of recommendation (sent directly to the Centre) and the abstract and sample chapter from the doctoral dissertation and/or a recent publication. Please send all materials, in PDF format only, to: [email protected]

Applications must be received by 31st December 2017.

For further information about the Centre please visit: http://cmpp.huji.ac.il/

Those considering an application are welcome to make enquiries with Dr. Preston J. Werner (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Philosophy Department) at: [email protected]

Applicants are also encouraged to apply for a Lady Davis Fellowship, which also has a deadline of December 31st. If both applications are successful, deferral arrangements on one of the Post-Docs – that will in effect make this a two-year Hebrew University Post-Doc – may be possible. More information about the Lady Davis Fellowship is available here: http://ldft.huji.ac.il/fellowships-information/hebrew-university-fellowships/types-of-fellowships-and-minimum-criteria-for-eligibility
