Research Fellow - Global Priorities Programme (EXPIRED)

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Fellow in Philosophy to conduct research for the Global Priorities Programme, under the supervision of Professor Hilary Greaves (Director of the Programme). The Fellow will conduct research in line with the research agenda of the Global Priorities Programme, which can be found at http://globalprioritiesprogramme.org.

The post is fixed-term from the date of appointment for 4 years, and is anticipated to start September 2018 (with some flexibility). The Fellow will be located in central Oxford with the Global Priorities Programme, which is part of the Faculty of
Philosophy.

Research will include producing publications to be submitted to journals, as book chapters and as internal reports. The Fellow will also participate in related activities, such as contributing new ideas for research projects, assisting in shaping the research agenda, and both attending and presenting at internal seminars and working groups.

The postholder is required to have received the degree of PhD (or equivalent) in philosophy. Also essential are excellent research skills, a good research record and proven track record in publishing articles in philosophy. In addition, the fellow must possess sufficient specialist knowledge of and a genuine interest in global priorities research and effective altruism.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 5 January 2018. Shortlisted candidates will also be asked to submit a research proposal (of no more than 1,000 words) prior to interview. Shortlisted candidates will be notified on Thursday 11 January, and interviews will be held on Wednesday 17 and Friday 19 January. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit their research proposals by Monday 15 January.
