Assistant Professor in Environmental Ethics - Fall 2018 Penn State Altoona seeks applications for a tenure-track, joint position in environmental studies and philosophy, beginning fall 2018, to teach upper-level courses in environmental ethics/environmental philosophy as well as a range of general education courses in philosophy. The ideal candidate should be able to contribute to and eventually assume a leadership role in Penn State Altoona's interdisciplinary degree program in environmental studies. Ph.D. in philosophy or related field is required. In addition to courses in general philosophy, the preferred candidate may expect to teach courses in introductory environmental studies, research methods in environmental studies, and senior seminars in environmental studies that are focused on topics of particular interest to the candidate. We are especially interested in candidates with research and teaching expertise in Kantian and/or non-western philosophical traditions. The preferred candidate will join Penn State Altoona's Environmental Studies Program, a unique, dynamic community of faculty and student-scholars. Offering both B.A. and B.S. degrees, the program offers a firm grounding in both the ecological sciences and the environmental humanities, with courses in biology, environmental chemistry, geography, geology, biostatistics, and environmental economics, policy, history, ethics, and literature.
