Job description |
Applications are invited for the above post based at the Humanities Building, University of Nottingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and making an excellent contribution to the Department’s research profile and culture. They will be expected to pursue opportunities for impact and public engagement with philosophy, and to contribute to the administration of the Department. The successful candidate will likely have an AoS in one or more of the following: political philosophy, social philosophy, feminist philosophy or applied philosophy. Applied Philosophy is taken to typically include the philosophy of law, economics, science, technology (including digital technology), illness and healthcare, philosophy of race, philosophy of the environment and education. Social philosophy is taken to typically include: the philosophy of practical and normative issues of contemporary social life, such as those arising from economic and other forms of globalization, violent political conflict, and the multiplicity of cultural experiences worldwide; the social contexts for political, legal, moral, and cultural questions; and issues such as social ontology, human rights, and global justice. Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant area of Philosophy. Candidates must have the ability to make a strong individual research contribution to the Department’s submission for the next REF exercise through excellent publications, and the ability to contribute excellent undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
