Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at Georgetown University is searching for a tenure-track assistant professor, beginning August 2019. The teaching load will be two courses per semester, with teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate level. We are looking for candidates who take a philosophical approach to race, or whose work is substantively engaged with a disadvantaged or marginalized racial, ethnic, or regional group; candidates who are working on questions in metaphysics, epistemology, or philosophy of science that intersect with the study of race, broadly construed, are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in philosophy or a closely related field is required prior to appointment. Candidates must show strong promise of excellence in teaching as well as research. To this end, we ask applicants to provide: 1) a brief cover letter; 2) a CV; 3) a writing sample (Max: 30 pages); 4) a teaching statement; 5) a research statement; and 6) the names of at least three references (letters of recommendation should not be submitted with the initial application). All application materials should be submitted by email to [email protected], by 1 November 2018. We will not be interviewing at the APA. Georgetown is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer fully dedicated to achieving a diverse faculty and staff. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation), disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. |
