Lecturer in Philosophy (EXPIRED)

Deakin University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Philosophy (level B, 0.6 fraction, teaching intensive, fixed term contract from 1 February 2020 to 22 December 2022).

The successful applicant will join a team of pluralistically-minded colleagues working in the Philosophy discipline, which is housed within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. More information about Deakin Philosophy can be found on our blog: https://blogs.deakin.edu.au/philosophy/

We are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher who is also a promising researcher.

The appointee’s key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• providing an excellent contribution to the School’s teaching and research programs
• enhancing the quality of teaching and learning activities, including identifying and responding to opportunities to advance the discipline
• contributing to the achievement of Deakin’s strategic goals in teaching, research, engagement, and innovation
• publishing research in quality outlets
• contributing to the research achievement of the School

To be successful, candidates will have:

• PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
• excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
• capacity to make contributions to teaching in a variety of our existing philosophy units
• ability and willingness to be involved in the supervision of honours and higher degree research students
• emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or success in obtaining external research funding
• excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
