The Department of Philosophy and Humanities at The University of Texas at Arlington seeks to make a tenure-track hire at the level of Assistant Professor. Position ID: F00194P The starting date will be August 15, 2020. The occupant of the position will be expected to take an active role in the development of the Department’s Medical Humanities program and possibly to collaborate with the interdisciplinary Data Science program in the College of Science. Required qualifications include a PhD in Philosophy or History and Philosophy of Science with demonstrated competence in Philosophy of Medicine, or Philosophy of Psychiatry and competence in Logic, Epistemology, and Biomedical Ethics. ABD candidates will not be considered. Preferred qualifications include considerable teaching experience and an interest in teaching or developing courses in Early Modern Philosophy and “Data Epistemology” (Philosophy of Probabilistic Reasoning, Philosophy and Psychology of Inference, Bayesian Philosophy of Science). The teaching load is generally 3-2, and the salary is competitive.
