Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

LAKE FOREST COLLEGE invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor (PhD) or Instructor (ABD) of Philosophy, beginning August 2020. We seek applicants with broad interests and a love of teaching to offer a variety of courses in philosophy. Essential courses for this position are threefold: (1) 200- and 300-level courses in Asian philosophy suitable for both general students and philosophy and Asian Studies majors and minors, (2) 200- and 300-level philosophy courses to contribute to our minor program in Social Justice, and (3) 200-level business ethics courses for business majors. The business major requires students to complete one course in business ethics and this hire will support that requirement. Course offerings in other areas are welcome, based on the candidate’s interests and expertise, as is willingness to contribute to other programs on campus, such as Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, Environmental Studies, Cinema Studies, etc. Faculty members normally teach 3 courses per semester (introductory to advanced undergraduate) with the usual non-teaching duties, including directing senior projects.
