The Department of Philosophy and Religion in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University seeks applications and nominations for a position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the area of information ethics. The successful candidate will have a strong scholarly record or research program in the areas of applied ethics and/or ethical theory with high relevance to emerging issues raised by robotics, big data, machine learning or other aspects of artificial intelligence. The person filling this position will have the opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research and curriculum projects, and must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. They will teach courses in their areas of expertise, as well as introductory courses on ethics and emerging technologies.
Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related field in hand by start date.
