The Department of Philosophy at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, position in the area of philosophy of science, with a focus on biology, chemistry, environment or technology. AOS: Philosophy of biology, chemistry, environment, or technology. AOC: Open. Expertise with interdisciplinary research, academic qualification in the respective STEM field, and the ability to teach a diverse group of undergraduates will be an asset. Candidates must have Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand on or before August 15, 2020. The Philosophy Department at the University of South Carolina prides itself in supporting and facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations. Members of the department currently work regularly with scientists, engineers, clinicians, and policy makers. The University of South Carolina is home to the Ann Johnson Institute for Science, Technology, and Society (AJI for STS). AJI is an endowed Institute whose mission is to build STS friendships and academic communities among those with historical, philosophical, scientific, medical and engineering approaches.
