Job description

The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position.  AOS: History of Early Modern Philosophy.  AOC: Open.  We welcome applications from philosophers who specialize in any aspect of the early modern period through Hume.  We are especially interested in candidates committed to diversifying the curriculum, including in their approach to teaching early modern philosophy.  A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required. ABD applicants will be considered only if it is clear the degree will be conferred by the time of appointment. Start date: August 24, 2020.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program in the history of philosophy, develop and teach undergraduate courses in the history of philosophy and areas of competence, and provide active service to the department, university, and profession in our student-centered program. The standard teaching load across two semesters is 3-3 (reduced by one course during the first year). Faculty have access to multiple sources of internal funding for professional travel. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
