The Department of Philosophy at Manhattanville College invites applications from exceptional teacher-scholars for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy position starting August 2020. AOS: Applied Ethics AOC: History of Philosophy. Manhattanville College is an independent, coeducational, liberal arts college with a nationally and internationally diverse student body of approximately 1,500 undergraduates and 900 graduate students, located 28 miles north of New York City on 100 acres. Building on its heritage of social justice and social activism, the College prepares students through rigorous academic and co-curricular programs, for ethical and socially-responsible leadership in a global community. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Normative Ethics and the History of Philosophy. The ability to teach Medical Ethics and/or Business Ethics is preferred. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching, and service to a growing department with an active student body engaged in department-sponsored events including the Regional Bowl for National High School Ethics Bowl and Phi Sigma Tau, and participate in national philosophy conferences. The ideal candidate should also prepared to work in collaboration with Manhattanville’s Sister Mary T. Clark Center for Religion and Social Justice, the Center for Design Thinking, and/or the Center for Global and International Studies. |
