UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA, Tuscaloosa, AL. The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Prof., beginning fall 2020. Undergraduate teaching, with usual non-teaching duties. AOS/AOC Metaphysics or Philosophy of Medicine broadly construed. An ideal candidate would contribute to an interdisciplinary pre-med program. Teaching competence in one or more of the following is also desirable: History of Philosophy, especially Ancient; Philosophy of Religion, Aesthetics, Philosophy of Gender, Race, Disability or non-Western philosophy. Ph.D. in philosophy should be completed by August 15, 2020. The University of Alabama is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. |How to apply|
The Department will use a BLIND REVIEW of each applicant’s CV and writing sample to generate a short list of semi-finalists. Those to be invited for on-campus interview will be selected from the semi-finalists. Each applicant must do the following: (1) submit online a CV that is prepared for blind review, removing name, Ph.D. granting institution and any information that would indicate gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other professionally irrelevant information about the applicant; and (2) submit online (attach to “Other Document 1”) a writing sample, also prepared for blind review, removing name, Ph.D. granting institution and any information that would indicate gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other professionally irrelevant information about the applicant.
