UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA, Tuscaloosa, AL. The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Asst. Prof., beginning fall 2020. Undergraduate teaching with usual non-teaching duties. The philosopher hired will play an instrumental role in the Department’s Jurisprudence Specialization. AOS or AOC: philosophy of law. Teaching competence in aesthetics, medical ethics, metaphysics or the history of philosophy is desirable. The philosopher hired will also be expected to teach courses in core areas of analytic philosophy. Ph.D. in philosophy should be completed by August 15, 2020. The Department will use a BLIND REVIEW of each applicant’s CV and writing sample to generate a short list of semi-finalists. Those to be invited for on-campus interview will be selected from the semi-finalists. Each applicant must do the following: (1) submit online a CV that is prepared for blind review, removing name, Ph.D. granting institution and any information that would indicate gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other professionally irrelevant information about the applicant; and (2) submit online (attach to “Other Document 1”) a writing sample, also prepared for blind review, removing name, Ph.D. granting institution and any information that would indicate gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other professionally irrelevant information about the applicant. Each applicant must also submit three additional items that will not be reviewed until after the list of semi-finalists has been generated by blind review: (3) strong evidence of teaching excellence as “Other Document 2,” (4) a photocopy of graduate transcript as “Other Document 3,” and (5) at least three letters of recommendation submitted by mail or Interfolio directly to:
