We are looking for a candidate who can build bridges across traditional disciplinary boundaries regarding the philosophical and ethical implications of emerging technologies, artificial intelligence and machine learning, computing and information science, or the nature of human and animal consciousness. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of lower level and upper level courses that contribute to the general education curriculum and the Philosophy major. The position carries a standard 3-3 teaching load, research, and service expectations. The PhD in Philosophy is required before August 17, 2020. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with relevant researchers across the University of Nebraska system including researchers associated with UNO’s new HARP (Human-Aware AI, Machine-Learning, and Robotics Pavilion) initiative. UNO has a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of under-represented groups and strongly encourage women and persons of color to apply.
