Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin August 2020.
Candidates must have research and teaching interests in bioethics and/or medical Ethics. The ability to teach undergraduate courses in feminist ethics is also preferred. While not required, a willingness to teach in multiple modalities (in person, online, and hybrid), is welcomed.
We seek a candidate who will balance high-quality scholarship, excellence in teaching, and committed service. In addition, the successful candidate will strengthen connections between the Department of Philosophy and FAU’s health related research pillars (iHealth and the Brain Institute) and/or College of Medicine. Faculty typically teach a 3-2 course schedule. There will be the opportunity to teach and mentor students in the Department’s MA and MFA programs, as well as in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters’ interdisciplinary PhD. program, the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies’ MA and undergraduate program, and other interdisciplinary programs within the College.
Minimum Qualification:
PhD from an accredited institution in Philosophy required at the time of appointment.
Publication record in the field, and relevant teaching experience at the college level required.
