Fudan Philosophy and Science of Intelligence (PSI) Center
The Center is a newly established joint center between The Department of Philosophy of Science and Logic (PSL) and The Institute for the Science and Technology of Brain-Inspired Intelligence (ISTBI). It is a fully collaborative research and educational center for philosophers and scientists in pursuit of foundational, practical, and moral issues in intelligence related areas. It is a center that contains and recruits its own (joint) researchers, visiting fellows, graduate students, and postdocs. There is no undergraduate teaching in the center, but members may offer upper level courses in The Department of PSL within School of Philosophy. The center is initiated by two international faculty members in philosophy (Malcolm Forster, originally from UW-Madison, and Chuang Liu, originally from University of Florida) and their counterparts in ISTBI. It has an ambitious fully international recruiting agenda of researchers, postdocs, and graduate students. It offers an environment of English as working language and an international graduate program.
Fudan PSI Center invites applications for 2 Assistant/Associate/Full research professor positions. These two positions will require candidates to have sufficient knowledge of computational modeling or the analysis of neuroimaging data to actively collaborate with scientists who construct and simulate biophysically plausible computational models of early nervous system evolution or, for example, with scientists at the ISTBI who design experiments and analyze data from the brain imagining machines at Fudan University.
Salary will be internationally competitive for well qualified candidates. The initial appointment is for 3-5 years. Responsibilities include graduate teaching (no more than 8 credit hours per year), thesis supervision, and research workshop and conference organization. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in a discipline related to at least one of the areas listed by the time of appointment, a solid research record appropriate to his or her stage of career, and excellent communication skills.
