Job description

Michigan Technological University recently launching nine new and exciting Tech Forward initiatives and is seeking interdisciplinary faculty to assist with this vision.

As part of these initiatives, Michigan Tech is bolstering its strength in interdisciplinary ethics research and educational programs. We solicit applications for a tenure-track position in ethics broadly construed. Candidates should have expertise in applied research areas such as health, climate, energy, environment, computing, social justice, media, communication, engineering, business, or other research areas.

This position will be closely associated with the newly established Institute for Policy, Ethics, and Culture (IPEC) designed to promote interdisciplinary ethical literacy and leadership in research and the curriculum. IPEC addresses the policy implementations, ethical considerations, and cultural significance of the massive changes and disruptive forces currently underway due to rapid technological innovation. IPEC is part of the university’s larger Tech Forward Initiatives that address ongoing and emerging challenges of the Twentieth Century. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research and collaboration with researchers across a wide variety of scientific, technological, and humanistic disciplines. In addition to pursuing and funding their own research, the successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary studies and contribute to the quality of undergraduate and graduate education.

Faculty hired through this initiative may reside in any academic unit.
