Qualifications:  PhD in Philosophy by the start of the position

Additional preferred qualifications:  Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.

Teaching Load:  4/4 load, with expected initial teaching load of 3/3 for the first two years of probationary employment, per contract guidelines.

Compensation:  Commensurate with experience and qualifications.  CSUB offers a generous benefit package (e.g., excellent health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits).

Application:  Send application materials electronically to philepistem@csub.edu   Candidates should include in their application: a letter of interest detailing the candidate’s qualifications and experience, a current curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts, a writing sample, evidence of teaching excellence (i.e., teaching statement and past teaching evaluations), 2-3 relevant course syllabi, and three letters of recommendation.  The letters of recommendation may be included in the original application, or they may be sent directly from references to the email address indicated.  Additional materials may be requested of candidates during later rounds of the search process.  Proof of degree conferral will be required by candidates selected for employment before an official offer can be extended.

The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies is supportive of candidates with research interests in subjects that contribute to enhancing understanding of diversity and equal opportunity or that address questions of interest to historically excluded communities.
