Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach M.A.- and Ph.D.-level courses in field of specialization.

  • Teach introductory and upper division courses in ancient Greek philosophy and one or more in aesthetics, epistemology, and metaphysics.

  • Advise students.

  • Publish in area(s) of specialization.

  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service.

  • Serve on examination and department committees.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in philosophy or comparable specialization from a college or university of recognized standing (ABDs will be considered, but all requirements for degree must be completed by August 1, 2020).

  • Excellent language competency in ancient Greek.

  • Evidence of scholarly activity in the field of specialization.

  • Strong commitment to demonstrated success in teaching and service.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience and ability to teach in one or more of the following areas:  aesthetics; epistemology; or metaphysics.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research.
