Job description

Main responsibilities
Job responsibilities include research, teaching and supervision in theoretical philosophy with a particular focus on the philosophy of science. Teaching will include the general philosophy of science and the philosophy of social sciences and humanities, as well as more specific topics within the holder's areas of competence. The appointee is expected to actively seek external research funding and may take over some administrative tasks. Employment as a Senior Lecturer means entitlement to later apply for promotion to Full Professor.

Qualification requirements
In order to qualify for employment as a senior lecture, the applicant must have demonstrated teaching skills, has either obtained a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific or other professional skills relevant to the subject content and the tasks that are to be included in the employment.

A general assessment criterion is the ability to work with other people, as well as other general abilities required to perform one’s duties.

No preference is given to candidates already competent in Swedish. However, sufficient competence within 2-3 years will be required, and the successful candidate will undertake to acquire such competence within the period.

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, special and equal emphasis will be given to scientific and pedagogical proficiency - especially with regard to the type of teaching mentioned above. Emphasis will also be given to administrative skills (including demonstrated leadership skills) and ability to interact with the surrounding community as well as the ability to inform about research and development work.

Teaching and learning in higher education
Completion of at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education, or having otherwise acquired the equivalent knowledge. An applicant who lacks 15 credist in teaching and learning in higher education must undergo such training during the first two years of employment. Applicants who consider themselves to have equivalent knowledge without having undergone formal education must explain in their application how the knowledge has been acquired and how this corresponds to the competence that formal education provides.

Additional information
Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement at the time of appointment, but the candidate should be prepared to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require proficiency in Swedish within two to three years of employment.
