Associate Professorship (or Professorship) in Philosophy Faculty of Philosophy (Ethics in AI), University Of Oxford, Salary range: £48,114 - £64,605 p.a. plus allowances, including a housing allowance of £9,799 p.a. An additional salary payment of £2,804 per annum would be payable upon award of the title of full Professor (without change to the duties of the post). Faculty of Philosophy, University of Oxford, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter 555, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG Hertford College, Catte Street, Oxford, OX1 3BW The Faculty of Philosophy wishes to appoint an Associate Professor (or Professor) of Philosophy, in association with a Tutorial Fellowship at Hertford College. The successful candidate will have an area of specialization in Ethics, and research interests relevant to the activities of the Oxford Institute for Ethics in AI. This post is available from 1 September 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a permanent appointment (subject to initial probation). The successful candidate will be expected to engage in advanced research within Ethics (including Ethics in AI) and must be able to provide research-led teaching and supervision at all levels, undergraduate and graduate. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide small-group undergraduate teaching for Hertford College, in the form of tutorials, on a range of subjects within Philosophy at both introductory and advanced levels. Candidates must demonstrate a research record in Ethics of international standing appropriate to the stage of their career; and must have research interests in Ethics and AI, the ability to deliver excellent teaching, the ability to supervise graduate students, and a willingness to undertake administration and pastoral responsibilities on behalf of Hertford College and of the University. Candidates should hold a completed doctorate, or a completed doctoral dissertation submitted for examination by the advertised closing date for this position, in Philosophy or a closely related field.
