Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Department of Philosophy, National University of Singapore
|Job category||Postdoc or similar / Fixed term|
|Start date||August 2020|
The Department of Philosophy at the National University of Singapore invites applicants for a two-year postdoctoral position, starting in August 2020. The postdoctoral position is affiliated with the project, “Epistemology Beyond Belief.” The post-doctoral position is entirely research; no teaching duties required.
Project Description: Most work in epistemology is focused on belief. But many propositional attitudes other than belief are normatively evaluable (e.g., desires, intentions, regrets). The aim of this project is to investigate the conditions under which various non-doxastic attitudes have some normative status. It will then apply these investigations to debates in epistemology, philosophy of mind, and meta-ethics.
Since the proposed project spans a number of areas of philosophy, we welcome applicants from a range research backgrounds, including - but not limited to - epistemology, cognitive science, philosophy of mind, decision theory, meta-ethics, and philosophy of language.
