Job description

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning September 2020. The successful applicant will combine research strengths in philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, epistemology, and/or early analytic philosophy. Ideally, these will not be independent research tracks, but will be integrated into a larger research perspective addressing foundational philosophical problems in novel ways. This position does not include teaching, but teaching may be available.

Required qualifications: Applicants must have completed all requirements for their doctorate by August 31st, 2020. Candidates must also be no more than 5 years from the awarding of their degree as of the start date for the position.

The salary is $47,500 CAD annually, plus $2,500 in research funding.

Term: September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021

The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow (pro-rated for those holding a partial appointment) recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.

Employment as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by the terms of the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement. This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement.
