ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - PHILOSOPHY (EXPIRED)

Utah Valley University located in Orem, Utah seeks an Assistant Professor - Philosophy. AOS: Asian Philosophy AOC: Open; though department has needs in Latinx Philosophy, Africana Philosophy, Indigenous Philosophy, Race Theory, and Ethics. Duties include: Teach 4 courses per semester (8 per year) in the undergraduate philosophy program at the upper and lower division, including, but not limited to Upper Division Courses in Eastern Philosophy, Introduction to Eastern Philosophy, Ethics and Values, and Introduction to Philosophy. Candidates must be committed to inclusion and openness to diverse perspectives. The successful candidate will teach Eastern philosophy from a diversity of cultural and theoretical perspectives. Instruction can include internet and evening courses. Candidates must have experience teaching in a college/university setting. Candidate must demonstrate scholarly research consistent with disciplinary specialization and facility with original language of research interest. Candidate will engage in department and university service, including curriculum devolpment. The successful candidate joins a vibrant and collegial department. Salary and benefits competitive. 

REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in Philosophy preferred. ABD with strong evidence of imminent completion will be considered. Demonstrable ability to teach a variety of university/college undergraduate philosophy courses including, but not limited to, the courses listed above. Demonstrable commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship in area of expertise. Record of effective teaching and student learning.
