Job description |
The Washington and Lee University Philosophy Department invites applications for a tenure-track position in Philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2021. Areas of specialization (AOS): Metaphysics and Buddhist Philosophy. Area of Competence (AOC): Classical Chinese Philosophy, East or South Asian Philosophies. Candidates should be prepared to teach Introduction to Theories of Knowledge and Reality as well as courses at all levels in the AOS and AOC. In addition, candidates should be prepared to contribute regularly to one or more of the following departments or interdisciplinary programs by offering courses in that department or program or courses in philosophy that contribute to that department or program: Middle East and South Asia Studies, East Asian Studies, East Asian Languages and Literatures. Teaching load is 5 undergraduate courses over two 12-week semesters, plus one 4-week intensive May term course every other year. Thesis and independent study supervision. Normal departmental service. No summer teaching.
