PHILOSOPHY POSITION – MOUNT ANGEL SEMINARY

The Department of Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts at Mount Angel Seminary invites applications for a full-time position, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin August 2021.

Ideal candidates will be excellent teachers able to offer courses across the entire philosophy curriculum. Although the AOS is open, the successful applicant should have an AOC in the area of Thomistic philosophy. Our philosophy instructors teach classes in both the Seminary’s undergraduate (BA degree) and Pre-Theology (post-baccalaureate certificate and MA (Philosophy) degree) programs. The successful applicant must be able to support and promote the Seminary’s mission of priestly formation, and must also be able to make a Profession of Faith and take the Oath of Fidelity. Applicants should hold a PhD in Philosophy.

Mount Angel Seminary, an apostolate of the Benedictine monks of Mount Angel Abbey, is a school whose primary purpose is the human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral formation of men for the Roman Catholic priesthood. The Seminary is comprised of a Graduate School of Theology, and a College of Liberal Arts, and, for seminarians requiring additional preparation to enter the Graduate School, a Pre-Theology program. In addition, the Graduate School of Theology offers theological education to qualified laymen and women. The Seminary’s programs adhere to the norms established by the Holy See and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as stated in the Program of Priestly Formation.
