Job description

The Department of Political Economy and Moral Science at the University of Arizona invites candidates for a Career Track, non-tenure eligible, Assistant Professor in the undergrad BA Program, beginning in August 2021. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s undergraduate major and minor in Political Economy and Moral Science. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester (60%), perform service responsibilities (30%) and do research (10%), Additional duties may be assigned such as serving on committees and other duties that are undertaken by Department faculty.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Teaching (60%) - Teach three courses per semester in the Department of Political Economy and Moral Science. These could include  PPEL 101: Ethics, Economy and Entrepreneurship; PPEL 205: The Ethics and Economics of Wealth Creation; PPEL 150:Capitalism and Socialism; and PPEL 320: Classics in Political Economy.
  • Service (30%) - Coordinate the Global Program, assist the Undergraduate and Graduate Director, assist in ongoing and future departmental projects, attend meetings, etc.
  • Research (10%) - Research responsibilities include publishing in the PPE area, especially research complementary with the teaching responsibilities, and that can enhance the teaching by bringing cutting-edge debates and ideas into the classroom.
  • Additional Duties as Assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • PhD prior to appointment.
  • Area of Concentration in any of the following:  PPE; political economy; political philosophy; ethics; political and economic institutions; comparative institutions; history of economic thought; public economics.
