Job description |
Philosophy: Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy - 000080 The Department of Philosophy at the University of Richmond invites applications for a full-time, one-year visiting assistant professor position in Philosophy to begin August 2021. The area of specialization is Ancient Greek Philosophy; but the area of concentration is open. We seek candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence and a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education. The teaching load is six courses per year: two sections of Ancient Greek Philosophy, three sections of Introduction to Philosophy, and one upper-level seminar. PhD is expected prior to appointment. This is a non-tenure track appointment. The University of Richmond is a private university located just a short drive from downtown Richmond, Virginia. Through its five schools and wide array of campus programming, the University combines the best qualities of a small liberal arts college and a large university. With nearly 4,000 students, an 8:1 student-faculty ratio, and 92% of traditional undergraduate students living on campus, the University is remarkably student-centered, focused on preparing students “to live lives of purpose, thoughtful inquiry, and responsible leadership in a global and pluralistic society.” The University of Richmond is committed to developing a diverse workforce and student body, and to modeling an inclusive campus community which values the expression of difference in ways that promote excellence in teaching, learning, personal development, and institutional success. Our academic community strongly encourages applications that are in keeping with this commitment. For more information on the department of Philosophy, please visit the department’s website at http://philosophy.richmond.edu Applicants should click "Apply Now" at the top of the page and submit the following materials: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests and goals; and a teaching statement. Review of applications will commence on March 8, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. Questions about the position should be addressed to the Chair of the Search Committee, David Lefkowitz, [email protected] |
