UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, College Park, MD. For Fall 2021: Lecturer. AOS: Philosophy, Politics, and Economics or Political Philosophy. AOC: Open. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 3:3 load at the undergraduate level in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics major, as well as the Philosophy major. The appointment is for two years with possibility of a third. Candidates must have a PhD in Philosophy, Political Science, or a related field by the time the appointment begins, and they must provide evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching. They must be capable of teaching standard courses in political philosophy and either courses in game and decision theory or courses in classics in political economy (e.g., Adam Smith and Karl Marx). Candidates need to provide a curriculum vitae, cover letter, writing sample, two letters of recommendation, and a teaching portfolio. We seek candidates whose research, teaching, and service have prepared them to contribute to diversity and inclusion. Contributions might include leadership in teaching, mentoring, research, or service that has helped to build an equitable and diverse scholarly environment and/or to increase access or participation of individuals from historically underrepresented groups.
