The Department of Philosophy at Central European University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position. The Department of Philosophy offers BA, MA and PhD level education and is up to the standards of the best international institutions. CEU’s programs are accredited in the United States as well as in Europe. The position is located in Vienna, Austria.

Duties and responsibilities: 

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising BA, MA and PhD theses as the need arises. Administrative tasks at the departmental and the university level. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and regularly publish in major professional venues. CEU awards a fully paid sabbatical leave in every seventh year or half-year. 

Qualifications: 

A PhD in philosophy by the time they start the employment, with an open area of specialization. Have the ability to teach undergraduate courses in one of the following fields: ethics, environmental philosophy, non-western philosophy. 

Compensation: 

We offer a competitive salary as well as additional benefits (e.g., sabbatical system, pension plan). The initial contract is for 6 years. Contracts are renewable and can be turned into indefinite contracts depending on the outcome of a review.
