Job description

The Philosophy/Ethics Department at Molloy College invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position to start September 2021. 

The Department has a strong need for someone with an AOS in Ethics and/or Applied Ethics as well as a proven track-record of teaching excellence and, preferably, with experience in the eLearning format. The individual should have an AOC in Bioethics/General & Applied Ethics/History of Philosophy.

The successful candidate will teach General Ethics, Business Ethics, and Introduction to Bioethics, Medical Ethics. Molloy College strives to establish the Bioethics and Applied Ethics programs as the best in the region. Accordingly, current and vital issues related to disabilities, race and gender will be addressed through instruction. The ideal candidate is a dynamic educator, dedicated to both undergraduate and graduate liberal arts education and is capable of attracting new students to the program.

The primary professional responsibilities of Molloy's faculty are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the College, profession and to the community. These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in department, school, and campus-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions. The successful candidate will also be committed to the academic success of all of our students and to an environment that encourages and celebrates diversity and differences. The successful candidate will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. In addition, the successful candidate will be ready to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in the College's shared commitment to study, service, and community.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Philosophy with specialization in Ethics/Applied Ethics is required. College-level teaching experience in Ethics and Philosophy.
  • Previous experience with online teaching is expected and familiarity the Canvas Learning Management System would be beneficial.
