TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE Applications are invited for a full-time Research Fellow to conduct advanced collaborative and independent research in Philosophy for the research project Protecting Minds: The Right to Mental Integrity and The Ethics of Arational Influence with a focus on drawing lessons from the ethical or legal analysis of nudging, manipulation, coercion, consent or bodily interference. The Research Fellow will work under the supervision of Professor Thomas Douglas, Principal Investigator for project which is hosted by the Uehiro Centre within the Faculty of Philosophy. This post is fixed term for two years from the date of appointment with excellent opportunities for career advancement. The Fellow will produce publications of high-quality research, develop clear and original research questions, undertake literature reviews, build collaborative relationships with key groups and individuals working in relevant research areas and participate in other project activities, such as public engagement and policy work, grant applications and event planning. The postholder is required to have received the degree of PhD (or equivalent qualification) or be close to completion, in Philosophy or Law with a specialisation in Applied Ethics, Normative Ethics, Neuroethics, Medical Ethics, Medical Law, Political Philosophy, Legal Philosophy or another area closely related to the themes of the project. Also essential are excellent research skills, an outstanding research record and demonstrated ability to publish in leading journals in Philosophy and/or Law. Please Note: Whilst the role is a grade 8 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less postdoctoral experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 7 (£32,817 - £40,322 p.a.) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly.
