Job description

Job Summary

The Philosophy department invites applications for a one-year Limited Term Appointment (LTA) to begin August 1, 2021 and end July 31, 2022. The successful applicant will be expected to teach PHIL100: Critical Thinking and a combination of lower and upper level courses for a complete course load of seven sections. The lower level courses may include PHIL120: Knowledge & Reality; PHIL251a: Rationalism and Early Modern Philosophy or PHIL251b: Empiricism and Early Modern Philosophy. It would be regarded as an asset to be able to teach at least one of: PHIL300: Symbolic Logic, or PHIL322: The Philosophy of Mind.

Regular attendance at department meetings, input to departmental discussions, and service related to student recruiting and mentoring is expected.  Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must have a PhD in Philosophy, or evidence of completion by the time the appointment commences. In addition, evidence of successful teaching experience is required.
