The Department of Metaphysics and Philosophical Anthropology and its Center for Contemporary European Philosophy form the Netherlands' main academic environments for teaching and research in post-Kantian European philosophy. Our staff contribute to the development of theories in present-day post-Kantian European philosophy, both historically and systematically, concerning several major topics from metaphysics to philosophical anthropology. They do so using methods and perspectives mainly (but not solely) derived from phenomenology, hermeneutics and psychoanalysis.
The Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religion Sciences is a compact, ambitious division with approximately 160 staff and almost 900 students from the Netherlands and abroad. Our education programme includes several top-notch degree programmes in both in-depth disciplinary fields of study and interdisciplinary and interfaculty studies. The faculty has innovative education and research programmes with a strong focus on current societal issues.
