Overview: The department of philosophy at Salem State University invites applications for a full-time, temporary position starting in the Fall of 2021. The department is seeking a candidate who can help to develop new courses that will add to the university’s Diversity, Power Dynamics, and Social Justice General Education requirement and complement the courses already offered by the department. A successful candidate will have a proven track-record in the above-listed areas, along with enthusiasm for our young major program. We welcome you to come celebrate with us and become a member of our community. Responsibilities: Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding. Required Qualifications: A PhD in Philosophy and college-level teaching experience in at least two of the following areas: LatinX Philosophy, Non-Western Philosophy, Feminist Philosophy, Critical Race Theory, Social justice issues concerning LGBTQIA+ communities, and Legal Studies or Philosophy of Law. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in and enthusiasm for teaching in multiracial, multiethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles; experience in distance learning and instructional technologies; experience serving as role a model and mentor for a diverse student body.
