Job description

Sam Houston State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences (Huntsville, TX), announces a tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Program within the Department of Psychology and Philosophy, to start in Fall 2022.

AOS: Philosophy of Science, and
AOC (One or more of the following): Environmental Philosophy, Feminist Philosophy and/or Queer Theory, Comparative Philosophy.

The new faculty member will join a dynamic and pluralist program with strengths in Philosophy of Race and Gender, Philosophy of Psychology, Social and Political Philosophy, Ethics, Existentialism, and Phenomenology. The regular teaching load for tenure-track faculty is three undergraduate courses per semester. Courses the person appointed to this position will regularly teach include, among other things, some combination of Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Biology, and Core Curriculum courses such as Critical Thinking. Additionally, the appointee would help develop and teach one or more courses in the listed AOCs. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in philosophy prior to the appointment in Fall 2022. On-line teaching experience is a strength. Summer teaching may be possible depending on demand.
