JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Philosophy (http://philosophy.la.psu.edu) at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, invite applications for an open rank position (tenured or tenure-track). AOS: Critical Philosophy of Race with expertise in Africana Philosophy, with particular interest in candidates working in African American philosophy and/or Caribbean philosophy and/or Womanist/Black feminist philosophy. AOC: Open. Preference will be given to candidates whose work will augment the Philosophy Department’s longstanding strength in continental philosophy and its specialties in critical philosophy of race and feminist philosophy, all of which are approached through attention to the history of philosophy. Teaching load: 2 courses per semester. Candidates for Professor should have an outstanding publication record, a commitment to securing external funding, and a track record of excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Duties will involve a combination of administrative duties, teaching and research, based on the candidate’s qualifications. Candidates for Associate Professor should have a significant publication record, a commitment to securing external funding, and a track record of excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Duties will involve a combination of administrative duties, teaching and research, based on the candidate’s qualifications. Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a publication record, a commitment to securing external funding, and a track record in teaching and mentoring students.
