Job Announcement: Position in General Philosophy The Interdisciplinary Department in Philosophy and Jewish Thought at Shalem College of Jerusalem seeks to fill a faculty position that is at least half-time (rank open) in general philosophy, beginning with the academic year 2022-2023. The candidate who is selected will join the major-time (libati) faculty of the Department, which means that she or he will teach at least half-time (four hours per term, for the full academic year). The initial appointment is for three years, and during that time the occupant of this position may not hold a major-time position at any other academic institution. Job Requirements:
Shalem College is an accredited, elite undergraduate institution in Jerusalem, Israel, offering a BA degree consisting of a Program in Humanistic Studies in which all students are enrolled, coupled with specialization in one of two departments: Philosophy and Jewish thought, and Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. The main language of instruction is Hebrew, although a small number of courses are taught in English. Further information about Shalem College may be found at www.shalem.ac.il/en/. In addition to research and teaching, faculty are expected to provide personalized attention to students, guiding and supervising their research and writing. In addition, faculty are involved in the academic administration of the Department and the College. The successful candidate will have demonstrated interest in and competence in fields outside of her or his area of specialization.
