AOS: Any area directly connected to Applied Ontology, including, but not limited to, Metaphysics, Applied Ontology, Formal Logic.

AOC: Any area related to AOS.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to UB’s Applied Ontology focus within the PhD Program in Philosophy. Normal departmental, university, and discipline-related service duties will be expected of successful candidates.

Demonstrated success is understood to include such achievements as publishing in prominent ontology journals, having papers accepted by leading ontology conferences, using or developing ontologies, and winning grant funding for ontology research. Applicants for Assistant Professor must have a PhD conferred by time of appointment. Exceptional applicants who are all-but-dissertation (ABD) will be considered. (The initial contract for an ABD will be for Visiting Assistant Professor until the PhD is conferred.) We will prefer candidates with teaching experience in higher education and experience in developing or using ontologies. Applicants for Assistant Professor should apply on UB Jobs at the following website: https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/30965

Applicants for Associate Professor must have a PhD, teaching experience in a higher education setting, experience in developing ontologies, and a scholarly profile appropriate for the rank.
