Ethics Research Intern (EXPIRED)

The role

As an intern at DeepMind you would be working closely with our researchers to advance the thoughtful and ethical development of AI:

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct academic research into priority areas at the intersection of ethics, society, and AI.
• Prepare research papers and issue-specific briefings to an excellent written standard for internal and external audiences
• Identify areas that require further exploration and develop new research proposals
• Work directly with your manager to contribute to published research or white papers

About you

In order to apply, you should be:

• Enrolled in a PhD programme where your core focus is moral philosophy, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, philosophy of cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, economics, neuroeconomics, or sociology 
• Demonstrate research capability in a DeepMind relevant field of study and a high-level technical understanding of AI
• Have experience co-authoring or contributing to published research
• Have a strong grasp of technology policy and its implications for society
• Powerful intellectual curiosity that keeps the candidate ahead on substantive topics and challenges in the principal areas of focus 
• Be a great team-mate with the ability to exercise good judgement in a rapidly changing environment
• Have a good work ethic and aim to achieve
