Job description

The Division of Human Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Alfred University invites applications for a tenure-track position in philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2022.

We are seeking someone able to teach standard introductory-level courses as well as upper­-division courses on topics that will interest a broad range of students. The successful candidate will teach a regular course in the philosophy of the arts. They should also be able to offer courses that integrate well with some of the college's other programs (e.g. history, political science, pre­health, environmental studies). Candidates with a demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary programs such as Women and Gender Studies, Global Studies, Social Justice Studies, and/or Africana Studies are strongly encouraged to apply. Ph.D. prior to appointment required. 

The Division of Human studies, which includes philosophy, history, and religious studies, is particularly interested in developing courses that involve Interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative technologies, and experiential learning. The successful candidate will teach three courses (four credit hours each) per semester. Additional teaching opportunities in the summer and winter breaks are possible.
