Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy, part of the School of Humanities at the University of Navarra seeks to fill a full-time Philosophy Professor position, to begin September 2022. The candidate will join the Philosophy Department, a dynamic unit of 28 professors responsible for the Degree and PhD Program in Philosophy, as well as certain classes in both the Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree and in the Core Curriculum Institute. With 11 research projects and a philosophy journal, the Philosophy Department enjoys a distinguished reputation. It collaborates with the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), a research institute for the humanities. The QS World University Ranking by Subject 2020 places its research among the 51-100 worldwide.

 Requirements

 1. Having a PhD in Philosophy,

2. Ability to teach in Spanish. The possibility of teaching in English will be positively valued.

3. Capacity for research in Philosophy.

 We will consider with particular interest candidates with expertise in some of the following areas: History of Philosophy (Ancient, Medieval or Modern Philosophy); Philosophy of Science.

 Part of the candidate’s teaching load includes Core Curriculum subjects. Any previous experience in the teaching of Core Curriculum courses and knowledge of its principles (www.unav.edu/en/web/core-curriculum/what-is-it/principles) will be a plus. Candidates are expected to have knowledge of Christianity and to value and appreciate the coherence between philosophical reflection and day to day life.

 Profile

This call is targeting two profiles:

- Postdoctoral: for candidates with a PhD in Philosophy obtained between the 31st of

August 2017 and the 1st of September 2022. In this case the candidate will be

offered a one year contract with the option to renew for a second year.

- Professor with teaching experience. For candidates with a PhD obtained before the

31st of August of 2017. The candidate will be offered a one year contract renewable

for a second year with the possibility of a tenure track depending on the candidate’s

performance.
