Job description |
Position Summary The Augustinian Institute—an institute charged with promoting the study of Augustine and the complex heritage of Augustinian philosophy and theological thought—seeks an Associate Director of Outreach, someone who will participate in the life of the Institute but whose specific charge is to expand our collaboration with other centers of Catholic thought and culture (broadly defined). Faculty members of the Augustinian Institute have teaching appointments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The primary (faculty) appointment of the new Associate Director of Outreach will be, more specifically, in the Augustine and Culture Seminar (ACS) Program, Villanova’s first-year seminar program, whose two foundational courses (ACS 1000: Ancients, ACS 1001: Moderns) reside at the heart of the core curriculum. The teaching load is 2-2, and the expectation is that the new hire will have some leave to explore teaching opportunities elsewhere in the College. Faculty rank will be Assistant Teaching Professor, a continuous non-tenurable position (CNT) with a clear structure in place for promotion. The secondary (administrative) appointment will be at The Augustinian Institute. The Institute finds itself at a particularly dynamic phase of its history. We seek a colleague who will enhance our collective exploration of Villanova’s Augustinian roots while helping us, at the same time, to think creatively about the years that lie ahead. Villanova is a Roman Catholic University sponsored by the Augustinian Order. As an AA/EEO employer, Villanova seeks a diverse faculty committed to scholarship, service, and especially teaching, who understand, respect, and can contribute to the University’s mission and values. Diversity and inclusion have been and will continue to be integral components of Villanova University’s mission. |
