| Job description |
Position Description The Program in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) at Brown University invites applications for a three-year (renewable), non-tenure track, full-time Lecturer position in STS with a focus on race and racism in science, medicine, and/or technology. Position requires teaching five classes per academic year (typically two lecture courses and three seminars). One course may be replaced by significant service, such as serving as the Director of Undergraduate Studies. One course will be one of the core required STS courses (Introduction to STS or the STS Senior Seminar), and the other classes may be drawn from the candidate’s area of research. We are eager to hear from candidates with a wide range of interests and expertise related to race and STS. Qualifications Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand in time for a start date of July 1, 2022. We welcome applicants with a sustained demonstrated interest in STS; applicants from the humanities, the qualitative social sciences, the sciences, or a related interdisciplinary field are all encouraged to apply. Excellence in teaching and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion are essential. Application Instructions Applicants should submit the following materials via Interfolio: cover letter describing teaching and scholarly interests, a current curriculum vitae, a sample syllabus, and an article or chapter-length writing sample. The cover letter should explicitly address the candidate’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community in the STS Program and beyond. Candidates should arrange for three references to be submitted via Interfolio. The review of applications will begin on February 15, 2022, but applications will be accepted and considered until the position is filled or the search is closed. |
