The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer or Lecturer-Doctoral Schedule. Teaching load: 4 three-credit courses per semester. Full-time lecturers are eligible to apply for Certificates of Continuous Employment (CCE, which is similar to tenure) after five years of continuous, full-time employment. Excellence in teaching and significant service are required to qualify for CCE. A record of research is not required to qualify for CCE. Qualification for the rank of Lecturer-Doctoral Schedule: Ph.D. in Philosophy earned or expected. AOS: Open AOC: Demonstrated effectiveness teaching introductory courses—critical reasoning, intro to logic, intro to philosophy and/or more specialized introductory courses (intro to: ethics, political philosophy, theories of human nature, philosophy of religion, philosophy of freedom, philosophy of contemporary music)—and/or business ethics. The department also has teaching needs in Latin American philosophy, feminism, environmental philosophy, the philosophy of mind and epistemology. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of effectiveness in teaching introductory courses in philosophy and/or business ethics as well as interest in exploring innovative pedagogical techniques to promote student success. QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in Philosophy earned or expected, demonstrated ability to teach successfully, history of interest in exploring innovative pedagogical techniques and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
